The Farrington-Thompson Giving Society

The Farrington-Thompson Giving Society, which recognizes those whose philanthropy will impact the health of future generations, was inspired by Jerry Farrington and Andy Thompson, two gentlemen whose vision helped form Texas Health Resources and whose service will benefit North Texans for years to come.

Both Jerry and Andy were named chair emeriti of the Texas Health Resources Board in 2002. Although we lost both of these North Texas legends in the last year, their stories deserve to be told for decades.

Jerry Farrington

Jerry Farrington

Jerry was instrumental in the formation of Texas Health Resources, acted as a founding trustee, served as its first vice chair and later served as chair. His service to the organization continued through the years. He was a committed supporter of Texas Health Resources Foundation, serving as chair of the Legacy of Care Campaign, a fundraising campaign across Presbyterian hospitals, raising more than $89 million in gifts from 2004 until 2009.

Jerry’s commitment was rewarded throughout the years. Among the many honors he received was the Distinguished Health Service Award from the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council. In 2005, he received the Katie and John Jackson Award, and in 2011, he received the Douglas D. Hawthorne Leadership Award from Texas Health Presbyterian Foundation for his distinguished service and leadership.

Andy, as chair of the Harris Methodist Health System, also was instrumental in forging the new integrated Texas Health Resources. His vision and leadership in that position, and then as founding chair of Texas Health Resources, helped to achieve the strength, unity and success that it has today.

Andy and his wife, Nancy, were committed to helping others in the health community and established the Andy and Nancy Thompson Education Endowment. They also supported capital funding for the Texas Health Fort Worth Hospital, the Texas Health Fort Worth Women’s Wellness Fund and the Texas Health Resources Excellence in Nursing Fund.

We are forever indebted to Jerry and Andy for their contributions and support to Texas Health and the North Texas community. If you are interested in learning more about estate gift plans or endowments, please contact The Foundation Office at 682-236-5200 or WendyGilbert@TexasHealth.org.
